Well, after a 930km round trip we are finally back. We had a pleasant trip up to Portland, not too hot and no smoke around. We didn't get to see much of Portland as we arrived early in the evening and were absolutely knackered. We were amazed at how dry the conditions were, no wonder the fire authorities were worried about the fire close to Portland.
Dry conditions on the way to Portland.
Portland. It rained!
Although it rained, the fire authorities warned that Friday was to be an extreme fire danger day. And it was. We left early Friday morning after picking up our 'package'.
Sorcha, our new family member had just been de-sexed on Wednesday so we wanted to get her home and comfortable. The temperature reached 41.5C on the way home. Our poor air-conditioning really worked hard. On the way home there was a wind change,( and I don't mean courtesy of Sorcha), and the smoke from the fires was now quite visible.
Baxter is now annoying following Sorcha around. Let's see how the next few days go.
