Saturday.

Well some good weather showed up yesterday and I finally got over the urge to shove my head in the toilet. I guess the Winter Blues affects everyone differently and with the cost of living outstripping wages, some days seem bleaker than others.

However, we are past the shortest day of the year, so everything can only get better. Mind you, I have also discovered that a nice glass of wine in the evening also helps. I usually go into the liquor store after work, late in the evening, looking dishevelled and feeling every bit my age. The young man in the liquor store asked, " Can I help you Miss? " I am definitely going back there!!

Anyway, here are some snaps from my bush walk yesterday. We spent the afternoon at the Mt Worth State Park.

Life is a drudge.

Sometimes you go through periods of your life when everything looks grey. It doesn't help when its horrible and cold outside and so miserable that even the dog would rather hold his bladder till bursting than go outside. Brandi the Ragdoll has disappeared into her drawer and won't come out again till she can settle down and go to sleep on No.2 son's face.

Ladybug, the Burmilla, has disappeared into the wardrobe and will only appear to feed her face, use the litter and stink the house out. Hubby is snoring on the lounge. Every now and then he snorts himself awake. I crept in and turned off the TV. Immediately he was awake and demanded to know why I turned it off.  I replied " You are asleep! ", to which he said," No I was watching".

Sigh. Some days are just not mean't to be. Excuse me while I go and shove my head in the toilet!

Midwinter

Well it is late June and the cold weather has finally decided to show up. The down side is that the weather is so wet that I have not been able to walk Bailey for over a week. Usually he is not too fussed, but this week he has been a pain in the proverbial.  I am sure he thinks he is a cat!

This is how it goes: I want to go out side, open the door. Hmm I think I will stand in the doorway and sniff how cold it is outside while I let all the nice heat out of the room. Nah, changed my mind, I think I will jump back on the couch. 5 mins later...........aaaarrrgh!!

I am sure that the cats are sitting with satisfied smirks on their faces.

The Dark Side.

Well I finally succumbed. The Fitbit craze has taken hold of me well and truly. I held out as long as I could but one day I happened to be passing a sale and there it was, calling my name. I only got the basic model, not the one that measures heartbeat etc. I figured if there was to be a problem with my heart beating I will probably be the first to know.

So now I have to walk a lot to justify having it.

Goodness How time Flies.

Well it has been a while, in fact I didn't realise just how long. As I sit here typing it has become apparent that time has definitely not improved my keyboard skills! I shall post weekly as my life over the past year has not become outrageously newsworthy. So a big Hello again to everyone. Oh by the way, meet Bailey, a big lovefest, I mean pest, on four legs.He now has a declared truce with the cats. Took a while.

Cleanup.

Well, we have now removed most of the tree. Only the root ball and a few branches remain.

A few minor repairs will be needed as once all the clutter was cleared it became obvious that some slight damage was caused.

Veggie patch damaged
The root ball actually pushed the chook palace slightly sideways.
So despite the above, we got away with limited damage. I don't think we will be trying to push the chook palace back into place. It weighs heaps! Added to all of this, our computer decided to do a dummy spit. Windows very kindly said it would save all my programs - it did, in name only. Needless to say I have spent my Sunday trying to reinstall my preferred browser, security etc etc. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Damn technology, good when it works................................

Meanwhile, Gertrude, our oldest chook was found dead this morning. Old age finally got her. She had a great retirement. I think it is time to get some more layers. Our two remaining girls seem to lay eggs when they are in the mood, which is not for days sometimes. Maybe it has something to do with constantly being barked at??

The Winds of Destruction.

The other day a storm passed over our town packing destructive winds. Now I did not give it much thought as we are quite used to land gales. There is a reason we have all our roof tiles tied to the roof frame.
Came home  in the  afternoon to be confronted by Hubby wearing a cheshire grin. He declared that from now on our luck can only get better. Oh God, what has happened I thought. Turns out our rather large Gum tree down the back decided to give up the ghost. No.2 son said he just heard a crack and down it came. Now, when Gum trees come down, they usually hit something, like your house. Hubby was right, our luck has to improve as it managed not to hit fencing, neighbours property or destroy the chook palace. Our friend now has some extra wood for next winter.

Timber..............

So close

Only pushed the trailer to the ground.

Start of the clean up
