Villainy.

I have this blackbird that follows me around especially when I am weeding. Hubby thought that he had bird proofed my vegie patch, but this little villain has found  a way in. I planted some chives, carrots etc a few months or so ago and the little darling and assorted friends decided that of all the vacant vegie beds available, the seeded one was where they wanted to be. So my lovely rows of seeds turned into a mish mash of god knows what.

So my sunny day has turned into a laborious production. The Girls are thrilled with all the greenery being chucked in their run, and when I finally finished, I let them into the vegie garden to dig to their hearts delight.

I was grumpy and sore, but spotted one of my azaleas starting to look blooming marvellous. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Now, about bird proofing my vegie garden.........................

Dignified Ageing.

Its been a while since I spoke about Soba, my grumpy, lovable old man. Much loved , he has slowed down considerably these past 12 mths. We went for a walk yesterday and after a couple of blocks he had had enough. So had I, long walks are too uncomfortable for me now. I love him to bits. He just loves sitting in the sun - what hound doesn't? What would life be like without these loving, forgiving and caring beings in our lives? I don't think it would be richer somehow.

Vintage - That's Me.

I have been reading quite a lot in the blogosphere lately and have noticed a large number of blogs concentrating on vintage clothing or op-shopping to me. People find the most amazing old clothing, and looking at their photo's brought back memories of the 60's and so on. I remembered that I had several pieces of 'vintage' clothing that my mother wore. I also have a pair of her shoes,(blue leather) that she wore in the early 50's, and I managed to take a photo of  them today as it was sunny and not pouring with rain - there is a reason its so green where I live.

The Lovelies.
For show purposes only. I would never wear these treasures with jeans!!

Pick - Me -Up No.3

Georgeous Rhododendron
As you know I have suggested  a few things that can improve your mood if feeling a little down. I know chocolate icecream may not be kind to the hips, but it cetainly helps the mind. In amongst the gloom and doom of a late winters day, nature always puts a smile on your face. I know it did mine.

Just starting to burst in glory.

Unwanted Helpfulness.

Some days you need help like a hole in the head. This is one of them. Having taken ages to sort the washing, Ladybug decided that I really looked like I needed her help. So, the minute I put down another load of clothes, she thought I may need some items permanently pressed - it sure would save on ironing. She can't see why I don't appreciate her hair over everything. Oh, by the way, my favourite clothing is black!

Want help?

Nearly finished. Do you want them folded as well?

Fresh Air

Today I decided to try pick-me-up no.2. Go for a walk. We went after lunch,( I needed to walk off the canneloni), and thankfully the rain held off. I have not been for a forest walk for ages, mainly because I just could not walk, but today was the day. Slow and sure and it was just magnificent. The forest just makes your heart soar and we were lucky enough to see a female Lyre bird running across the track.

The sound of rushing water was so loud we could barely hear ourselves. Instead of waxing lyrical I will let the pictures do the talking. I love where I live.

Whew--now for a coffee!

Miserable Day Pick-Me-Ups

Well it's only 3 or so weeks till the end of winter, but these past few days a cold front has made us all feel blue. Rain, hail, and snow on the mountains just a few hours from us. Brrrr. So what do I do on days like these? Pick-me-ups are in order, and here is number one - heaps of yummy chocolate icecream. Must be eaten in a warm cosy room with a good book and finished off with a hot chocolate. Heaven

The New Beast

No.1 son's car was to say the least - interesting. It was one of those cars that was lowered so low that it was barely legal, and I absolutely hated driving and riding in it. Every damn rut or uneveness in the road was felt through the "bottomular" region. I could swear I walked with an unnatural swagger after sitting in that car. My teeth felt like they were being shaken out of my head. Thank god I didn't have dentures. So when he decided to start saving for another car a couple of years ago, I thought AT LAST!!

Well, he finally obtained the car of his 21yr old dreams- a VW Jetta with all that opens and shuts to send a young man into bouts of lovestruck chatter. In other words, I had to put up with 2 years of him saving- god it was painful, to my wallet! Now I have to listen to him through the honeymoon period of new car love.

Despite all my whinging, I am so proud of him. He worked so hard and saved with discipline to achieve his goal. He is a perfect example that its not how much money you have, it's what you do with it. He was prepared to wait. Congratulations No.1 son. I and my bottomular region thank you.
