Reflection

It's funny but true that when you extract yourself from the materialistic treadmill, life does become calmer and your appreciation of the wonderful gifts you have, such as healthy children, loving relationships and a warm home life increases.

By a warm home life I mean life's simple pleasures like homecooked meals, homegrown food and refurbishing old things,( myself included).

Lazy Sunday

Well,it is a lazy and hot sunday. Too hot to do anything outside and also dangerous as the UV levels are high, and we have to be very careful and aware of skin cancer in this part of the world. I have started to go through my planting calendar and will aim to begin planting in March--well everyone needs a goal!

Hubbie needs to fix the wire around the vegetable garden, as the birds are getting in.There is lots of work to do. I am getting "that" look from him at the moment, so I smile back sweetly at him. In the meantime Ladybug, our Burmilla, is flopped on top of our bookshelves, looking as demure and gorgeous as ever.  It is also a fantastic spot from which to tease Baxter-not that she would stoop so low. Yeah right!!!.

I Hate the Heat

Ok, so I am still to get into the vegetable garden. However, today being 35C outside, is not the day. The air-conditioner (which rarely gets a run), is running and the whole tribe, animal and human, are congregated around it.
The only lifeforms running around outside at the moment seem to be the chooks-Gertrude and Enid. Nothing seems to stop them, including one unfortunate mouse that crossed their path-RIP. I have introduced you all to Soba, now I shall introduce Baxter, security alarm extraordinaire and love beanbag on legs.
He drives all of us mad but we love him to bits. He can be quite stubborn at times which is surprising because we thought Soba (a ridgeback), was as stubborn as was possible. In the evening as he sits on your lap and *kisses* you, everything is forgiven-well, till the next day.

The Vegie Patch

The vegie patch, well.....ummmmm...ok, here is a picture of my beautiful "old boy" Soba. He is a gentle giant as long as you are family and we love him to bits. When weeding the garden he always stops to check things out and have a cuddle. He then does what he always does-sleep and snore.

Best Intentions

Aaah, the veggie patch. All the best intentions blah blah. After the last crops I intended to replant, however, best plans were derailed and it got harder and harder to get off my butt and get stuck into preparations for the next harvest.

But, D-Day has arrived and work must begin ( translation: hubby needs to weed the beds and turn the soil). He's so glad I'm here to organise his free time.

Finally.

At last I have entered the world of blogging. Its been a case of I might do it-but never really followed through. However it is the start of a new year, so why not. So, hello to everyone who sees this- and treat me gently as I have a feeling I will be on L plates for a while.
