My Only Sunshine.

Where ever there is a shard of sunlight on a winters day, you can be sure it's well used.

It's too nice and warm to go cat hunting.

Don't you just love the turkey neck?

Blustery.

What does one do on a cold blustery day? Go for a long drive of course. We decided to go for lunch at Rosedale, a small town about two and a half hours east of Melbourne. On the way we passed through one of the power stations in the La Trobe Valley. It is huge and is called the Loy Yang Power Station. It is about 165kms south east of Melbourne and supplies about 30% of Victoria's power requirements powered by brown coal.

Loy Yang on the way to Rosedale.
Finally we arrived at Rosedale, a town 184kms east of Melbourne set on the banks of the La Trobe  river. It is a lovely town with cafe's and apparently had some connection with the 1915 Melbourne Cup winner Patrobas. It was so windy that I thought I would do a Mary Poppins without the umbrella!

Prominent sculpture in the town.
Patrobas was owned by a Mrs Widdis, the first woman to own a Melbourne Cup winner. After lunch we headed back home.

Lush farmland.

What season is it?

Here in West Gippsland it is supposed to be mid winter. The sky should be grey, rain pelting down and darn freezing. So far we have had some days like that, but generally most days we get sunshine. Not that I am complaining mind you. I love love love sunshiny days. The problem is that some plants are having a hard time deciding whether it is winter or spring.

Bursting in all it's glory.
Several of my friends have also remarked on the trees starting to blossom. They are about a month too early. Still, early they may be but their colour is much appreciated.

Weak Willed

I must make a confession. I saw the sign advertising the event and told myself that I would not give in. I would use all my willpower and stay the course. Like Gamblers Anonymous, I would deny myself such earthly pleasure.

The result? I completely and utterly failed and dove in head first.
The event?   A huge town book sale.
The damage?  A boot full of books.

I hang my head in shame.

One Winter's Day.

Hubby decided to cheer me up and go for a long drive. Well actually the sub plot was that there was a motorcycle place he wanted to look at. We ended down at Mt Eliza by the sea. It was an absolutely glorious day.

The beach was lined with tiny beach shacks, that are worth a fortune.

It was just lovely to be able to walk along the beach in mid winter without freezing my butt off.
More Shacks

The best view was high up on the street. I was so envious of the houses on the side of the cliff. Lucky sods!
Fancy overlooking the ocean while having morning tea.
Quite a view to soothe stressful thoughts.

That age.

I recently went to get a new pair of glasses. I have always been as blind as a bat, but I was finding reading up close was almost impossible.  So I trounce into the Optometrists  and the happy guy suggests it is time for a change. How about multifocals? Now I am pretty game so I said why not? A week passes and my new specs arrive. I am told it will take approx a week and a half to get used to them.

2 weeks later: I return declaring that I can see distance ok, but the reading part is shite. So the happy guy suggests another type of multifocal to try before he puts on my file--Never to wear Multi's. Hmmm, I'll let you know the outcome.

Long Day.

Had to go to Melbourne today, which is about an hour and a half from where I live. While walking along, I saw this amusing sign in a shop entrance.
