I recently went to get a new pair of glasses. I have always been as blind as a bat, but I was finding reading up close was almost impossible. So I trounce into the Optometrists and the happy guy suggests it is time for a change. How about multifocals? Now I am pretty game so I said why not? A week passes and my new specs arrive. I am told it will take approx a week and a half to get used to them.
2 weeks later: I return declaring that I can see distance ok, but the reading part is shite. So the happy guy suggests another type of multifocal to try before he puts on my file--Never to wear Multi's. Hmmm, I'll let you know the outcome.

Bi-focals for me, certainly not varifocals - I prefer to keep my balance. Good luck with the experimenting.

Thanks, I'll need it.
DeleteI know the feeling. I think varifocals are very hit and miss. It took me months to get used to my first pair but after that they were fine. The last two pairs I've had have been great for distance vision but not that brilliant for reading. I've never tried bifocals but I don't think I'd take to them somehow. Added to which my two eyes don't seem to coordinate that well. Still, none of that impedes my enjoyment of life so I'm not complaining....
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see I am not the only one with un-coordinated eyes!!
DeleteSome friends love 'em & some hate 'em !
ReplyDeleteI tend to be with the latter group at the moment.
DeleteI have varifiocal contact lenses. They took some getting used to, but are fine now. Keep trying! xxx
ReplyDeleteI shall. I didn't realise you could get multifocal contacts. If I look in the mirror and it cracks then I might have to consider them.Don't want to scare the children!!
